Dashcam video captures ice sheet shattering windshield on I-495
A dashboard camera in a car on Interstate 495 captured what can happen when snow and ice aren’t cleared from a vehicle before hitting the road.
Jeffrey Cote posted a video to Youtube on Wednesday that caught the moment a sheet of ice flew off the car in front of him and struck his windshield.
In the video description, Cote said one of his wipers and a side mirror were also damaged when the ice hit his car while driving on I-495 south Wednesday morning. CBS Boston reported the incident occurred in Haverhill.
“If I had braked harder, I could have avoided impact, but it initially appeared the piece was going to fall in front of me,’’ he wrote.
