A Haverhill woman’s quick thinking — and under-the-sink fire extinguisher — stopped her house from burning this week.
Melissa Merrill was leaving her home Monday morning at around 10 a.m. when she “saw flames through the open door of the first-floor apartment,’’ reports The Eagle-Tribune.
“I yelled ‘fire,’ ran upstairs and grabbed my fire extinguisher,’’ Merrill told the Tribune.
The downstairs tenants, as well as Merrill’s four children, were able to get out of the house safely. The industrial fire extinguisher stopped the fire by the time the fire department arrived, according to the Tribune.
