A police officer ‘rescued’ a little girl’s stuffed bear on I-495
Emma and Polar, her stuffed bear, are “inseparable,’’ according to her parents.
A little girl named Emma was riding with her parents on I-495 in Milford earlier this month when the unthinkable happened — at least in the world of loveys. Emma’s lifelong companion, a stuffed polar bear, went flying out the car window and onto the highway.
“Anyone with a child that has ‘that one’ thing that they bring everywhere with them, knows how traumatic this would be to a small child,’’ wrote the Massachusetts State Police on its Facebook page.
The incident happened on Dec. 5. Trooper Dan Mather of the Massachusetts State Police responded to the family’s request to find the bear and went searching for it. The bear had landed somewhere in the left travel lane of I-495, said police.
Mathers found the bear and returned it to Emma. And, as you can tell from this picture posted to the state police Facebook page, she is very happy to be reunited with her friend.

Emma and her family were so thankful that Mathers “rescued’’ the polar bear from the highway, that they made him a card. In it, her parents wrote:
We appreciate what you did and your kindness — you made one little girl so very happy to be united with her lovey
Here is the card, complete with Emma’s special drawing for the police officer.
