State police have added an accused child rapist to the Mass. Most Wanted List

A 75-year-old man accused of raping a child has been added to the state’s Most Wanted List by the Massachusetts State Police.

John F. Munroe is now on the Most Wanted List.

John F. Munroe “appeared to be a friendly, grandfather-like individual who gained the trust of a single parent family over a period of several years,’’ said police in a statement. “In the summer of 2015, he was allowed to babysit their daughter who was under the age of 10. Munroe then allegedly sexually assaulted the child on numerous occasions and took pornographic photographs of her.’’

Munroe was arrested by Fall River police in September and charged with rape of a child with force, aggravated rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, enticement of a child under 16, exhibiting a child in a nude or lascivious pose, and possession of child pornography, according to the statement.

After his arrest, he was ordered by a judge to wear a GPS monitoring device while awaiting trial. Munroe removed the device sometime in October and fled, according to police. His car was discovered in Hull and police found a shotgun at his residence.

Munroe is described as white, about 5’10’’ tall, weighing approximately 250 pounds, with gray hair, blue eyes, and a light complexion. He has a mustache, glasses, and a tattoo on his right forearm of a green growling dog’s head with a collar.
