An elderly couple died in a Worcester house fire
Firefighters found the couple on the first floor of the home.
An elderly couple died in a house fire in Worcester Sunday night, according to the Worcester Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the 2-alarm fire just before 8 p.m., Deputy Chief John Sullivan told Boston.com. Firefighters found a man and woman, who Sullivan said were in their 70s or 80s, inside the Cape-style house.
“They were found on the first floor of the home,’’ Sullivan said.
The victims were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Sullivan.
