Worcester man convicted for ‘brutal, violent lifestyle’ after bar assault
A Worcester man convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon has been sentenced to at least 20 years in prison.
Darryl Thomas was charged with pistol-whipping a man and shooting him point-blank in the chest outside of a bar in October 2013, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports. He was sentenced Friday in Worcester Superior Court.
Thomas was also found guilty of charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm), carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the T&G.
Before imposing his sentence, the judge in the case said it was apparent Thomas had chosen “a brutal, violent lifestyle.’’
