Woman struck, killed by Red Line train at Downtown Crossing

A woman was fatally struck by a Red Line train at Downtown Crossing station in Boston at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to MBTA Transit Police.

The woman was trespassing on the tracks at the time she was hit, police said. Police believe she was about 42 years old.

Buses replaced Red Line trains from Harvard to JFK/UMass stations following the incident.

Police and representatives from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office are investigating the incident.

On Tuesday evening, a man was struck by a Red Line train at Broadway station.
