Person struck by Red Line train at Broadway

A person was hit by a Red Line train at Broadway station at about 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo told Boston.com.

The person, a male of unknown age, was trespassing on the tracks when he was struck, MBTA Transit Police said. He was extricated at the scene by Boston firefighters and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Buses replaced Red Line trains from Park Street to JFK/UMass following the incident until about 8 p.m.

Police are investigating the incident.
