Lee uses high-def drone video to promote town

In some ways, the promotional video for the town of Lee is similar to your generic ad for a small town nestled near a mountain range. There’s the emphasis on the historic landmarks, views of nearby hiking and biking paths, and stock video-like shots of “cozy’’ bed and breakfasts.

Lee’s video has one difference, though. It was almost all shot with an unmanned drone.

The town Chamber of Commerce enlisted the drone-filming abilities of Northeast Drone Video of Pittsfield to make their newest promotional video, according to the Berkshire Eagle, and the result is a series of beautiful overhead views of the town they call the “Gateway to the Berkshires.’’

The video premiered to “rave reviews’’ at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner, the Eagle reports. It features shots of historic sites around the city as well as people biking, hiking, fishing, and kayaking in the nearby wilderness.

“[The drone] allows shots that previously would have cost tens of thousands of dollars to be delivered at a fraction of that price,’’ Northeast Drone Video’s Terry Holland said in a statement. “The production value of our setup rivals the very complex work coming out of Hollywood.’’

As the video itself says, “Nature is but a step away.’’

One step, sure. Or one aerial flight.
