The 82-year-old former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate is soliciting turkey carcasses, via The Boston Globe’s Matt Viser, from anyone who wants to give up their Thanksgiving leftovers.
“They should use the carcass,’’ Dukakis said. “And if they don’t want to, tell them to come to 85 Perry Street in Brookline. We’ll make full use of it, believe me.’’
He really will. Dukakis only just finished last year’s Thanksgiving turkey. From the Globe:
On a day that inspires quirky family rituals, here’s another: One of the state’s more enduring political figures collects used turkey carcasses to help sustain his extended family for the year to come.
“Throwing out a turkey carcass is sinful. Absolutely sinful,’’ Dukakis says, in all seriousness. “It’s a terrible thing to do. There’s so much richness and goodness in a turkey carcass, God.’’
One year after traveling for Thanksgiving, Dukakis took the leftover turkey carcass back home with him on the train.
