This high school student is putting the giving in Thanksgiving

One 17-year-old is truly getting into the giving spirit of the season, and collecting clothing for the less fortunate.

Kalsie King spent the past year collecting clothing items from classmates, companies, and family members to share them across the Greater Boston area with those in need, The Boston Globe reports. Her first donation will be to her homeless or displaced high school classmates at John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics & Science in Roxbury.

According to the Globe, the clothing drive is personal for King. Her mother, Carlotta, was homeless for a year in 1996.

King has amassed over 1,200 pieces of outerwear and will work with school administrators to distribute this holiday season, the Globe reports.
