State trooper hit by alleged drunk driver after Patriots game

A Massachusetts State Trooper manning a traffic post was struck and injured by a driver police say was drunk in Foxborough after the Patriots-Bills game on Monday night.

The trooper was on foot directing traffic on Route 1 southbound when he was struck by a 2012 Jeep Liberty at about 11:47 p.m., police said. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Catherine E. Williams, was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

The trooper was taken to a nearby hospital in pain, but he was walking and alert, officials said.

It was not immediately clear if Williams had a lawyer.
