The parents of the kidnapped Hamilton girl are thanking those who helped find her
The parents issued a statement expressing their gratitude.
The parents of the 2 year-old Hamilton girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a babysitter on Friday are thanking those involved in the child’s rescue.
“We are extremely thankful for the incredible efforts to rescue our daughter by the Police and all emergency responders,’’ said the parents in a statement issued by Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office. “We are extremely grateful to the kind couple who found our daughter.’’
Abigail Hanna of Topsfield, the 21-year-old woman who allegedly kidnapped the child, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Newburyport District Court.
Hanna was arrested Saturday and charged with kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a child, and breaking and entering in the nighttime.
The toddler was found naked and bruised on the side of a road Friday morning in Rowley by a couple driving by, The Boston Globe reported. The little girl was released from the hospital Sunday.
“We have suffered a horrific ordeal,’’ said the parents. “We are grateful to have our daughter back.’’
The family has asked for privacy “out of respect for the young ages of our children, and out of an understanding that as parents we need to be able to restore a sense of calm, comfort, and normalcy for the well being of our children.’’
Hanna is being held without bail.
