There’s a new Bean Boot backlog
It’s not every day there’s a backlog of orders for a 103-year-old product, unless you’re L.L.Bean.
Despite adding 200 staffers to its workforce and buying more manufacturing equipment, the Freeport company still has over 50,000 people waiting for a pair of the in-demand signature boots, The Boston Globe reports.
The company works around the clock and manages to crank out around 2,200 pairs of Bean Boots daily, the Globe reports, but some styles remain unavailable until February.
“It just keeps coming,’’ 23-year L.L.Bean veteran Diane Lavallee told the Globe. “We feel bad. People are waiting, and we want to please our customers. It’s just crazy, and I’ve never seen it like this before.’’
Even though the option of outsourcing may save the company time and money, CEO Chris McCormick told the Globe the timeless boots will always be made in Maine.
