Lane Turner / The Boston Globe

Downtown Crossing is adding the city’s first Clover restaurant to its ranks.

The company began in a shared facility in Jamaica Plain, expanded to brick-and-mortar stores in Cambridge, and paved the way for food trucks in Boston, but were yet to establish a physical location south of the Charles River, Clover founder and CEO Ayr Muir wrote in a blog post.

The new Boston store will replace the Boloco that recently closed on School Street. According to Muir, Boloco founder John Pepper mentioned the company’s possible departure a few months ago.

The Clover CEO posted a video tour of the new facility, before construction begins.
