Want to keep track of the T this winter? Here are some suggestions
If people need help to stay on top of public transport service during the snowy months, there’s an app for that – or more specifically, 68 independently-developed apps for that.
Part of the MBTA’s readying for this year’s winter involved a public survey of 11 MBTA transit tracking apps to determine which programs people liked best.
The survey had riders rank the best features of each app, including accuracy of information, actual location, and visual appeal.
Almost 2,000 people responded to the survey. The results were pretty varied and no app checked all the boxes – but some were definitely more functional than others.
Green Line Tracker scored highly, but worked for the one line only, and available only for Android phones. Where Is the T was deemed functional, but not visually appealing. People loved Transit, ranking it highly for all functions, but it lacks commuter rail information.
Check out the full survey at the MBTA’s winter page.
