The Massachusetts Port Authority wants to add 5,000 parking spots at Logan Airport, reports The Boston Globe.
Thomas Glynn, Massport’s chief executive, told the Globe the parking spots, as well as a new covered walkway to the MBTA Blue Line, are in response to the increased amount of travelers at Logan. Logan served 31.6 million passengers in 2014, up 4.7 percent from the previous year, reports the Globe. The project will cost hundreds of millions of dollars, Glynn told the Globe.
However, in order to add the spaces, Massport would need to address a parking cap dating back to the 1970s. Logan’s parking limit is set at 18,415 vehicles.
