Boston is ready to take on the future, according to a new study.

Dell’s “Future Ready Economics Model’’ ranked the 25 largest metropolitan areas based on preparedness for future growth using human capital, commerce, and infrastructure.

Information from the “2015 Strategic Innovation Summit’’ hosted by Harvard and sponsored by Dell, ranked Boston fourth in the nation. Boston’s high score in the “human capital’’ category, thanks to a high percentage of students in the city, bumped it up in the rankings .

San Jose, and San Francisco, California, and Washington D.C. topped the list.

Boston scored in the top 10 for commerce and human capital, but failed to make the top 10 in infrastructure.
