Hundreds to rally on the Common for Paris
Hundreds of people are expected to attend a rally in support of those killed and wounded in Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris, which will be held Sunday at noon on Boston Common.
A Facebook page for the event lists the Parkman Bandstand as the gathering point. As of Saturday afternoon, more than 800 people had marked that they would attend.
Alexandre Palagi, a PhD student at Harvard Medical School and native of France, said the idea to plan a vigil came Friday night after a number of people posted to social media expressing the desire to rally for Paris. Palagi became involved after speaking with officials at the Consulate of France on Saint James Avenue.
“Like many other French who live in Boston, I felt immensely sad, angry, and shocked when I heard the news,’’ Palagi told Boston.com via Facebook. “Trying to reach my family and friends in Paris left me with a deep feeling of helplessness that I knew I was sharing with so many.’’
