The TD Garden’s 20th anniversary “Banner Moments’’ campaign honored Boston Police Officer John Moynihan in a video posted to Facebook on Thursday.

Moynihan, who was shot in the face at point-blank range during a traffic stop in Roxbury in March, was invited to the TD Garden Turns 20 Celebration on September 30.

He was honored as a special fan, meeting the Bruins players and receiving his own jersey. Moynihan’s hockey team, the Irish Heaven, then met him on the ice where they skated and played with the Bruins.

Moynihan and the team were invited back to watch a Bruins game in their very own suite.

“It was surreal. I grew up in the beanpot, watching the Bruins play in this rink, and I’ve always been the guy in the seats so it was an interesting experience to be the guy on the ice,’’ Moynihan said in the video.

Moynihan is a highly decorated military veteran and officer, credited with helping save transit officer Richard Donahue when he was wounded in the Watertown shootout in the days after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. For his actions, he was one of 17 Boston officers to receive the National Association of Police Organizations’ “Top Cop’’ award in 2014 at the White House.
