Boston-area students show support for Mizzou
Demonstrations have emerged across the nation in support of students facing racial inequalities on college campuses.
Students across the Commonwealth have organized today in solidarity with those at the University of Missouri, protesting racial injustice on college campuses.
Mizzou’s president and chancellor both resigned Monday after students protested the way racially charged events on campus were handled, those protests have since ignited others across the nation.
Wednesday afternoon, students at Smith College in Northampton staged a walk-out to highlight similar issues on their own campus.
Several more demonstrations were planned for Thursday by student groups at colleges in the Boston area.
Boston College students planned a “blackout’’ to show their solidarity with students facing racial injustice. A event page on Facebook encouraged students, faculty, and administration to wear black to show their support all day long. A rally was planned for 12:15 p.m. for students to discuss the importance of the blackout and show solidarity.
The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis asked members of the Brandeis community to join students of color and demonstrate on campus at 1 p.m. in solidarity with Mizzou.

Students at Framingham State posted a photo to Facebook to show support for Mizzou students and help bring attention to the racial issues at hand on campuses.

At Harvard, students authored “A letter from the black students of Harvard,’’ to show their support, saying they were “overwhelmed and inspired’’ by the actions of the students at Mizzou.
