School bus driver arrested, accused of driving students while drunk
A school bus driver was charged with driving under the influence after operating a bus with students on board, according to the Providence Journal.
Ayla Johnson, 27, was arrested Friday afternoon in Lincoln, Rhode Island, the Journal reported.
An administrator at Northern Elementary School saw Johnson stumble off the bus around 3 p.m. and called police, according to the Journal. Police confronted Johnson and smelled alcohol on her breath, leading them to conduct a field sobriety test, which she failed.
Police later discovered that Johnson had driven high school and middle students before arriving at the elementary school, the Journal reported.
No information on Johnson’s attorney was immediately available.
