It’s 70 degrees, and Boston’s first Christmas tree is here

Don’t let the 70 degree weather fool you — winter is just around the corner.

To kick off the season, the Faneuil Hall Christmas tree arrived at the marketplace Thursday afternoon — an uncharacteristically warm day for November.

This season’s 80-year-old tree hails from Honesdale, Pennsylvania, and is 80 feet tall and 50 feet wide, according to Faneuil Hall’s Facebook page.

On Friday, Nov. 21, the marketplace will hold the Tree Lighting Spectacular with help from the Blue Man Group, who also showed up Thursday to help unload the tree. After that, it will play host to Blink!, the synchronized light and sound show featuring music from the Holiday Pops and more than 350,000 lights. The show runs daily through Jan. 3.
