Framingham teen charged with rape of high school student

On Wednesday afternoon, a student at Framingham High School was missing from class. Administrators then found her disoriented in a nearby wooded area, and she was taken to Metrowest Medical Center for treatment.

Now, an 18-year-old is accused of having sex with her without consent, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Patrick Cowart, of Framingham, was charged with rape and arraigned Thursday in Framingham District Court, authorities said.

Cowart’s bail was set at $50,000 and he has been placed under house arrest, according to the DA’s office. He must wear a GPS monitoring device and stay away from the victim, witnesses, and Framingham’s public schools. He is due back in court Dec. 7.
