Kid makes up razor blade in candy story

The offending candy.
For at least a few hours Saturday night into Sunday, a parent’s Halloween nightmare looked to be real: tainted candy.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Auburn police in central Massachusetts posted that they’d received a single report of Halloween candy that had been tampered with. An inch-long metal object was found under the wrapper, but not inside the mini Hershey’s bar.
But as of around noon Sunday, police told residents to stand down. After talking to the mother and the child, they learned that the whole thing was made up.
No word on whether the kid who told the tall tale got the rest of his or her Halloween candy taken away.
