The DCF employee who worked on Bella Bond’s case could face discipline

The worker “largely copied information’’ from 2006 — six years before Bella was born.

The work of the DCF employee who copied old reports when preparing information about Bella Bond’s mother is being investigated by the Department of Children and Families, The Boston Globe reported.

A report released Wednesday by the Office of the Child Advocate found that the DCF worker, when writing reports about the mother in 2012 and 2013, “largely copied information’’ from 2006 — six years before Bella was born. Bond has two older children who were taken away by DCF. The copied reports led DCF to close Bella’s case in September 2013, almost two years before she was discovered dead.

“You’ve got somebody who is effectively falsifying the record of the case when you’re talking about cutting and pasting,’’ Maureen Flatley, a child welfare consultant, told the Globe. “Heads should roll. Somebody should be held accountable.’’

The social worker who copied the reports still works at DCF and could face discipline, reports the Globe.
