A man was stabbed in the neck during an early-morning fight on Hanover Street near Faneuil Hall.

“It appears they were fighting over a woman,’’ said Rachel McGuire of the Boston Police Department.

At 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Evan Cobb, 22, of Somerville, stabbed a 32-year-old man with a knife outside of The Point at 147 Hanover Street. The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cobb is in police custody, charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, said McGuire. He was also issued a city ordinance citation for possession of a knife 2 1/2 inches or longer, she said.
