This Boston student plans to knit while running the NYC Marathon
Many think of knitting as a leisurely pastime, but this Boston student sees it as a way to make it through a 26.2 mile run.
Meredith Parmalee, a 22-year-old senior at Northeastern University, will run the New York City Marathon on Sunday while knitting a scarf, according to The Boston Globe. The stunt is meant to raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and is sponsored by her former employer We Are Knitters.
While the act may sound complicated, Parmalee’s been practicing knitting and running, the Globe reported.
“The more I started doing runs while knitting, the more it became second nature for me,’’ she told the Globe. “It helps distract me from thinking about running … and my legs hurting and my arms hurting. It helps me keep my mind off of it.’’
