A fire that destroyed a Maine barn and killed several farm animals last week left one baby pig unscathed, leading her owners to name her “Miracle.’’

Miracle was just days old when Mel and Jeff Chadbourne, owner’s of Rough Cut Acres in Harmony, found her running outside the burning barn, Centralmaine.com reported. Officials were unable to determine what caused the devastating fire that left Miracle and the other surviving animals without a home for the winter.

A week later, things are looking up for Miracle and the other animals, as community volunteers stepped in to help build a temporary shelter, Centralmaine.com reported. A GoFundMe campaign has also raised more than $8,000 to help the Chadbourne’s cover their losses. Once they rebuild, they plan to keep Miracle as a breeding pig, according to the report.

“She’ll have a long life here,’’ Jeff Chadbourne told Centralmaine.com.
