What happens when your state allows the cooking and preparing of wild animals at non-profit game suppers?

Roadkill winds up on your plate.

Hotel Vermont in Burlington will host a wild game dinner of rabbit, black bear, and moose on Nov. 7 called “Wild About Vermont.’’ The dinner will benefit the Fish and Wildlife Department’s conservation camps and Lake Champlain International programs, reports the Burlington Free Press.

“Going to wild game dinners is one of my favorite things,’’ Vermont Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter told the Press. “I started thinking how neat it would be to have one in Burlington — to expose what is wonderful about game suppers to people who usually don’t see them.’’

The meat for the dinner will come from animals hit by cars, killed illegally, or donated by hunters, according to the Press.
