Grab a tissue before reading this get-well note two kids taped to a cop’s door

“Thanks for being like a dad for us,’’ wrote 9-year-old Malik.

Two kids in Connecticut took crafting a “get well’’ note to a whole new level this month, moving a police officer to tears.

While officer Anthony Nolan of New London, Connecticut, was home recuperating from a knee injury, he discovered a hand-written note taped to his door, he told WFSB-TV. It was from two neighborhood kids named Malik and Tasha.

Nolan met Malik two years ago at the beach when the 9-year-old was upset over a wet book — a book about not having parents. Nolan told WFSB-TV it was a “gulp’’ moment for him, and he has been reading regularly to Malik ever since.

“I’m sad because you can’t read to me,’’ Malik wrote in the note. “I don’t have a dad only you read to me.’’

Taped to the note was 52 cents for “coffay moni.’’ Nolan, who also serves on the New London City Council, posted the note to his Facebook page.
