Nantucket Police.

Nantucket police on Tuesday arrested a man they believe sexually assaulted two women in separate cases. David Matterson was charged with kidnapping and rape in the 2008 and 2014 incidents according to the Cape Cod Times.

Matterson, originally from Jamaica, has been living on and off Nantucket since 2008. He is also a suspect in several other cases police told the Times.

“He was definitely a very legitimate threat to the women in this community,’’Police Chief William Pittman told the Cape Cod Times.

Nantucket police collected voluntary DNA samples from Jamaicans living on the island based on victims’s descriptions that the attacker had a Jamaican accent. Victims also described the attacker’s keys as having a membership card to a particular store attached to them, according to police.
