Kenneth Green has been named the MBTA Transit Police Chief
Green has been serving as the acting chief since November of last year.
The MBTA announced Wednesday that Kenneth Green will serve as MBTA Transit Police Chief.
Green has served as the acting chief since November of last year, when Chief Paul MacMillan retired.
Green, a former police officer for the town of Winchester, joined the MBTA Transit Police Department as a patrolman in 1991. He was promoted to sergeant in 2004 and lieutenant and deputy chief in 2012. He has also been recognized for his involvement with the “Think About It First’’ project in which youngsters are given cards listing the consequences of being arrested.
Frank DePaola, the MBTA general manager, said the screening and interview process for the position was very thorough, in a Massachusetts Department of Transportation statement.
“Chief Green’s knowledge of the transit system and strong relationships with the communities we serve made him the clear choice for the job,’’ DePaola said.
