English High’s MCAS math scores were finally released by the state after an investigation
The students had to wait a month for their scores while the state investigated “anomolies.’’
Eleventh graders at English High School in Boston have received their 10th grade MCAS math scores after a month-long delay due to an investigation into “unspecified anomalies,’’ The Boston Globe reported.
English High, one of Boston’s most under-performing schools, showed significant improvement in its scores. Mitchell Chester, Massachusetts’ commissioner of K-12 schools, told the Globe the marked improvement was not the reason for the investigation. But the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education would not say exactly what the anomalies were.
Chester told the Globe that, upon review, the scores are “an accurate reflection of what these students have achieved.’’
