The ‘official pumpkin’ of Boston is over 1,000 pounds
The Boston Public Market is doing it up big this Halloween. And by big, we mean really big.
The “official pumpkin’’ of Boston (according to its very own Twitter handle: @BPMPumpking), weighing in at a whopping 1,020-pounds, will arrive at the permanent year round indoor marketplace on Wednesday morning.
One of the market’s vendors, Red Apple Farm, partnered with farmer Tom Brouillet, both of Phillipston, Massachusetts, to grow the massive pumpkin. Together they have donated the colossal gourd to the market and city.

The market will give consumers an opportunity to take photos with the pumpkin at the unveiling, as well as name it.

The Boston Public Market will also host 12 other Halloween and fall-themed events throughout the month, including a pajama and pancake movie showing of Hocus Pocus, and an urban pumpkin patch and carving event along the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
