Quincy livery driver sentenced to 6 to 8 years for kidnapping, rape

A Quincy livery driver sentenced to six to eight years in prison for kidnapping and sexual assaulting a female passenger last summer plans to appeal the verdict, his lawyer said.

Said Said, 41, was accused of picking up a 25-year-old female in his vehicle and driving her to a deserted location in June 2014. Prosecutors said he sexually assaulted her there and then took her debit and credit cards and iPhone before dropping her off by State Street in South Boston.

Surveillance evidence presented in court showed Said using the victim’s credit cards to make purchases at a Dorchester pharmacy, according to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

Said was convicted of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, indecent assault and battery, assault and battery, larceny, and improper use of a credit card.

His lawyer Jack Cunha said he plans to appeal the verdict.

“We respect the jury verdict as we must, but in that context this is clearly at worst anomalous behavior,’’ Cunha said of Said, a father of five who he said was “very active in his community.’’
