A driver pulled out a hatchet during a road rage incident, according to police
The victim “rolled up his window and secured his car doors fearing for his safety,’’ according to police.
Police say a driver waved a hatchet at another driver during a road rage incident Tuesday morning in Rehoboth.
Brian Art, 34, of Dighton, was driving erratically on Route 118 at around 7 a.m. when he passed a vehicle and then stopped at an intersection, got out of his car, and approached the driver of that vehicle, according to Rehoboth police.
Art “approached the victim’s car yelling at him and waving a hatchet in the air in a threatening manner,’’ police said in a statement.
The victim reported that he “rolled up his window and secured his car doors fearing for his safety,’’ the statement says.
The victim called the police, who found Art driving his blue Jeep Liberty nearly three hours later. Art was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. He will be arraigned in Taunton District Court.
