Over 30 malnourished animals seized from New Hampshire home
Police seized more than 30 malnourished animals from a New Hampshire home, according to Derry police.
After neighbors reported possible animal neglect at a home in Derry, police and Derry Animal Control began to investigate, police said. They executed a search warrant for the property Friday and found a horse, 17 chickens, three dogs, six cats, six birds, a guinea pig, and an iguana at the residence. Many of the animals did not have any food, and others had a limited supply, according to police.
The woman who owned the animals surrendered them to the Stratham SPCA and Derry Animal Control, police said. She told police that she had suffered a financial hardship and could no longer afford to feed the animals. She voluntarily turned them over to authorities.
Derry police are investigating the incident along with Derry Public Health and Code Enforcement officials. No charges have been filed.
