An analysis of Boston city councilors’ work habits by The Boston Globe revealed weeks-long absenses from City Hall, as well as late arrivals and early departures.

The Globe reviewed attendance records, private calendars, and data from City Hall’s executive parking garage, as the councilors push to give themselves a considerable pay raise.

Councilors disputed the validity of the findings.

“I’m on the phone 24 hours [a day],’’ Councilor Timothy McCarthy told the Globe. “This is unfair. I work very hard, and I don’t take a lot of days off.’’

According to the Globe, McCarthy’s schedule during his first year in office showed golf penciled in on 14 workdays.

“Trying to use the entering of an access code to a garage as a gauge of the amount of time councilors work is not valid,’’ Council President Bill Linehan told the Globe in an email. “Schedules only represent a portion of the work.’’
