A Connecticut woman tried to cover up the abuse of her 5 year-old stepdaughter by staging videos of the girl banging her head against a bunk bed ladder, reports the Hartford Courant.

East Hampton Police arrested 24 year-old Marie O’Brien Wednesday and charged her with risk of injury to a minor and intentional cruelty to persons. Her bail was set at $250,000.

After the girl was taken to the hospital with severe injuries to her face and eyes, a doctor looked at two videos of the girl on O’Brien’s phone and told police they appeared to be staged. After examining O’Brien’s phone further, police said they found practice videos. In one of the videos, O’Brien is giving the girl a cue to begin.
