Mass.’s unemployment rate dropped in September
Massachusetts’ unemployment rate fell for the month of September, according to from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, despite losing jobs in the month.
Approximately 3,406,800 Massachusetts residents were employed in September, making Massachusetts’ unemployment rate an impressively low 4.6 percent – down from 4.7 percent in August 2015, and down from 5.6 percent in September 2014. That equates to about 35,400 people employed this year who were not this time last year.
Massachusetts has added 46,900 jobs in 2015, but the state experienced job losses in both August and September in the fields of trade, transportation and utilities, and manufacturing sectors.
