The number of violent and property crimes in Massachusetts dropped in 2014, reports The Boston Globe.
According to FBI data, violent crimes such as murder, rape, robberies, and aggravated assaults fell 5 percent — from 27,667 to 26,399 incidents. Property crimes such as theft and burglaries dropped 9 percent. However, both the violent and property crime rates in Massachusetts were higher than the national rates.
The data was provided to the FBI by law enforcement agencies across the country.
