2 hospitalized from carbon monoxide at Newton school
Two people have been hospitalized after a carbon monoxide incident at a Newton elementary school, officials said. Class has been canceled at Franklin Elementary School for the day as officials investigate.
Newton Fire officials told Michael Henrich of Fox 25 News that they found a janitor “staggering around the building’’ and a report of another worker in the boiler room. Both have been sent to Mass General Hospital.
Carbon monoxide levels reached 700 parts per million at the school, according to measurements on scene. The maximum recommended level is 9 parts per million.
No other people were found in a search of the building, Newton Fire officials said.
