A great white shark died a mysterious death and ended up on a Cape Cod beach

The Cape, home of the sharks. Boston Globe

It’s been shark week for a few months now down on the Cape. On Saturday, a great white was found on Pleasant Road Beach in Harwich, making it the third shark to wash up on a Cape Cod beach this year. Sadly, unlike the other two, this one was already dead when it was discovered.

The Boston Globe reports that the cause of death remains unknown, and that there weren’t any visible signs of trauma on the shark’s body. Scientists also don’t know whether the animal died on the beach or before it washed up on shore.

RIP Mystery Shark. Here’s hoping shark-heaven is filled with swimming humans and sunbathing seals.
