A Westford cat died after being shot by an arrow
Police are searching for the person who shot a pet cat in Westford Saturday night with an arrow, injuring the animal to the point where its owners had to put it down.
The cat’s owners rushed it to an animal hospital in an attempt to treat its injured paw, The Boston Globe reported. The veterinarian discovered that the animal also had chest injuries, including a fractured rib, which forced the owners’ decision.
The type of arrow police found lodged in the cat’s paw is typically not used in target practice, but instead for hunting, police said. Hunting is a popular pastime within Westford, police told The Globe, and many residents own bows and arrows. It is rare, however, that they are misused and result in injuries.
