A 16-foot great white shark was seen swimming near Cape Cod
Researchers spotted a 16-foot-long great white shark on Tuesday, one of the largest of the summer, The Boston Globe reported.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy has been researching great white sharks off the Cape since 2009, and said most they come across are less than 12 feet long. Two others spotted this season were each about 15 feet long, and the largest one the researchers have seen was an 18-foot female named Curly in 2010.
Tuesday’s shark was not only large, but also unruly, as researchers were unable to tag it. They are continuing to review Tuesday’s footage to study the shark and identify it in the future.
