Carlos “Man in the Cowboy Hat’’ Arredondo may meet with Pope Francis at the White House next week, according to the Boston Herald. Arredondo, who helped save Jeff Bauman’s life during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, is slated to meet with the pope during a group session on Wednesday.

The Arredondos recently founded the Arredondo Family Foundation, which is dedicated to providing assistance to military families and those affected by veteran suicide. Arredondo’s son Alex was killed in Iraq, and his other son, Brian, later committed suicide.

Pope Francis will be in the United States from September 22 to September 27, visiting Washington D.C., New York, and Philadelphia. The arrival ceremony for the pope will be the morning of September 23. While not open to the public, a live stream will be available of the ceremony and personal meeting with President Obama, according to the White House.
