Police: Shooting near MIT campus
A woman in her 20s was shot in the leg at 4:24 p.m. at the intersection of Portland and Main streets in Cambridge, near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge Police spokesman Jeremy Warnick told Boston.com.
Warnick said the injuries were non-life threatening, but that the suspect was unknown and remained at-large.
MIT officials retracted an alert that an active shooter was on campus Sunday afternoon, after originally sending out an alert via email and social media.
At 4:43, MIT Police tweeted and emailed an alert that an active shooter was on campus, but university officials later retracted the report.
According to MIT officials, the suspect is not believed to be on campus and MIT Police “continue to monitor the situation.’’
MIT Police did not immediately respond to requests for information.

Warnick said the investigation is ongoing.
Regarding how the alert was sent, Warnick said Cambridge Police were “looking into that ourselves as well.’’
