Don’t let this Cambridge water main break mess up your plans

A big water main break near the inersection of Mount Auburn and John F. Kennedy streets in Cambridge could complicate traffic for the next couple of days, according to Cambridge Police.

The break happened late Thursday night close to the heart of Harvard Square. It’s expected to cause detours through the weekend, said Jeremy Warnick, a Cambridge police spokesman.

Harvard Square is not accessible via JFK or Mt. Auburn streets, he said.

Cambridge Water Department and Department of Public Works crews are at the scene to repair the break and stop the water main from leaking.
