You know what to do.

This weekend will be the fifth annual end of summer fee-waive cat adopt-a-thon. For one weekend all adult cats have their adoption fee waived. As if you needed another reason to get a cat after looking at those photos.
“The previous four cat adopt-a-thons have put over 800 cats in new homes,’’ director of public relations for the MSPCA – ANGELL, Rob Halpin said. “This year we hope to put 200 cats in homes, making the five year total to 1000 rehomed cats.’’
Summer is a tough time for rehoming adult cats, Halpin says, as kittens dominate the adoptions. By waiving the adult cat adoption fee for a day at the end of summer, the MSPCA hopes to encourage people to adopt adult cats.
“There are two reasons people should consider adopting an adult cat,’’ Halpin says. “First, cats routinely live upwards of 15 to 20 years. If you get a cat that’s a couple of years old, it’s still got a long life ahead of it.’’
Secondly, he says, “you know what you’re getting with older cats. We know more about them in terms of their bakcground and personalities, versus kittens who are still developing. You don’t know their personality until they settle in.’’
